Terms of use

The rules are short.

PrivChat is a private messenger with no servers: what you write travels straight from your device to the people you choose. Before you start, you must accept these terms.

01

Who can use it

You must be at least the age shown for PrivChat in the store you got it from, and old enough under the law of your country to use a messaging service.

02

No tolerance for objectionable content or abuse

You must not use PrivChat to send, publish or share anything that is illegal, that sexually exploits or endangers minors, that threatens, harasses or bullies, that incites hatred or violence, that exposes intimate images of someone without their consent, or that is spam or fraud. There is no tolerance for objectionable content or for abusive users.

03

You decide what reaches you

Nobody can write to you unless the two of you exchanged an invitation first. At any moment you can block a contact, leave a group, leave a channel, hide the stories of a contact and delete any message or conversation from your device.

04

Use «Report» in the menu of a contact, a group, a channel or a story, or write to privchat.wiki@proton.me. We answer every report within 24 hours.

05

What we can and cannot do

PrivChat has no servers and no accounts: we cannot read, filter or delete what other people send, and there is no account for us to close. When a report is confirmed we help you cut the abuser off, we deny them our support and every service we run, and we tell you how to take it to the authority that can act when it is a crime.

06

The rest

PrivChat is provided as is, with no warranty. If you break these terms you lose the right to use it.

In force since 2 October 2026.
